The World of A Poet
Poetry describes those feelings of the heart Those inner most yearnings and desires That one holds most dear Deep within the soul To be able to describe the pleasure and the pain The agonies and the ecstasies of life in prose or rhyme Is the gift that a poet is given It is a poets delight in being able to share With the reader these emotions Emotions that draw from the reader Laughter and tears, compassion or anger Sympathy and empathy, sadness or joy Sometimes all within the same poem! For emotions are the corner stone that We build our lives upon They are the world a poet lives in every day And being able to describe and share These emotions is the greatest gift of love A poet may bestow upon humanity And the greatest joy a poet may receive in return A poet realizes the beauty in everything From the glory that can be seen in a tiny Droplet of water, to the majestic beauty Of the mountains, from the forests to the sea The nurturing rain and Lovely rainbows hidden within The four seasons in all their glory The splendor of the moon and her moonlight And the power she wields over our emotions The radiance of the sun In the beauty of a sunrise or sunset.... The sun can not set without a poem being born Surely there can be no end of subjects For a poet to capture in a poem Poetry makes a poet immortal For when all fades away, Words will still linger.
"Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away" Matthew 24:35
