Wishing on a Falling Star

Standing in the darkness

In the stillness of the night

The stars are glowing brightly

Tho' some are so distant

They're hidden from my sight

Oh falling star I see tonight

If I could have one special wish

I'll tell you what it would be...

That all the little children that hunger

Would no longer go hungry

Because once you have walked

Amongst these precious little ones

And seen the pain and tears in their sweet eyes

Your heart becomes pained with their sorrow

And you can not become deaf to their cries

Most have bloated tummies and are dying

And some may be already dead

All you wish for is food to be given

So these starving children will be fed.

For the look of satisfaction on their faces

And the wonderous joy it would give

You would not ever be able to forget it

No, not as long as you live

So dear falling star

Will you please grant this wish I just made?

Or will my wish soon be forgotten

And as fast as you fall will it fade?
