Tongue Tied

Reluctantly I attend a friends gathering,

Never knowing that my life is about to change

Forever by meeting you.

As I enter, I hear soft music faintly playing

Behind a room buzzing with conversations.

My eyes search for a familiar face

And our eyes meet.

I am instantly enchanted.

Lost in your beauty, your raven hair with skin

Like an angels and a smile that

Could light up the darkness

My friend drags me from your view.

I inquire and find you are single and

Beseech from him an introduction.

In a room full of people there is only one

With whom I want to relate, only you

A few minutes seem like hours

As I contemplate all I want to share with you.

I feel as if I have known you forever.

Finally as my friend introduces us

I stand there before you tongue tied.

Unable to tell you what is in my heart.

Unable to let the words spring forth

Like a fountain spouting out and gushing

With the admiration and complete abandon

That I really want to express to you.

Feelings so deep that they are buried even from me.

As I gaze into your lovely blue eyes

I dive deeply into their hypnotic pools

Searching for the key to unlock my tied tongue

I am unable to find it, instead as I come up

Gasping for air I find that I am drowning,

Surrounded by such a sweetness and love

That I do not care.

Still unable to speak

I reach out my hand to you

As you touch my hand and smile

I hear the most beautiful music I have ever heard

Our auras blend into a kaleidoscope of colors

Glowing with the light of love that is so bright

I am momentarily blinded by its radiance

. My heart beats with the force of a hurricane

Against my trembling chest.

My heart a willing prisoner,

So beguiled and bewildered by your presence

That I am unable to utter my own forgotten name!
