"Poet of the Month winner at Poetry for Thought" August 2000 Opposites Attract
There was a moment when she of somber and silent birth And he born of chaos and ruckus bound mirth Found themselves with the same spoon in hand And as she stirred the pot, he led the band While he beat the pan and made much clatter She smiled, and stirred, and it didn't matter She said, "He makes a racket because he has to, you see If he had to walk softly then who would he be? He makes a noisome noise and he does it so well And I know that he loves me, but he'll never tell." And together they made such a heady brew Drunk on each other and not a soul knew Of how chaos could seize her and make her his fan And that he was made speechless with the touch of her hand He said, "Somber she is, but she wears it just right. She's happy on the inside, you can tell by the light. Can you see from this angle? When she smiles she glows! And she tells me she loves me, but no one else knows." And so it was that he broke her silence but didn't keep it at bay And she calmed his chaos yet never kept it away Together they met with the same spoon in hand And as she stirred the pot.. well, he led the band
