AS I WOOD, BE
I stand today,an Elder tree With limbs upraised rejoicefully As ringing 'round my heart reveals My growth, my grief, my hurts, my heals Held closest to my heart, my youth, Enclosed by years of gathered truth, All adding strength against the storms That each, with tug and twist, transforms Until my layered life today Stands near complete to here, display My outermost for all to see. My roughened bark, my seasoned me And those who'd care to vtew my heart Have not to rend my rings apart But see instead, the joy of me And hear my whispered poetry
