Army Nurse

My daughter is a soldier

So far away from home

We are visiting her very soon

So she won't feel so alone

Her days are filled with hard work

As she studies into the night

The army has her number

She'd rather nurse than fight

With a broken toe and back pain

She struggled through her training

P.T.'s before dawn

Even when it's raining

My daughter is strong and stubborn

And so very proud

When the Army tried to break her

She wouldn't cry out loud

So during biv wack, they took her mask away

Then they played a dirty trick

The Army gassed her platoon that night

And she got very sick

All her fellow soldiers

Had their masks on tight

But she was gagging, cursing, and crying

It must have been a sight

There have been so many times

That she couldn't get through the day

If not for her strong faith in God

Helping to guide her way

All that is behind her now

And her goal is within her reach

She will make a very fine nurse

And one day may even teach.
